BINHI Foundation recently received seven boxes of books from Glenealy Middle School in Hongkong. Received through the initiative of Grissel Gomez, a BINHI volunteer, the books were a generous mix of story books, illustrated books, fiction, and non-fiction titles. Some of the books were sold at a fundraiser organized to benefit the BINHI scholars in a new site in Paco, Manila. The others were divided among other BINHI sites.
Here, the teachers built reading corners, where the books can be enjoyed and shared by the pupils in their spare time. Because reading, albeit a skill, is best when formed into a habit — these corners should hopefully be a place where children will find enjoyment in reading for a specific purpose or for leisure.
